Studio Tour

Tour the largest rapid prototyping company in the world!
Sponsored by Anvil Prototyping.

Prototyping is a critical part of product design.  With so many tools available, most designers have questions:

• Which technology should I use?
• When do I outsource?
• What tools make sense in my studio?
• What results can I expect and what are the limitations?

3D Systems has assembled the broadest range of prototyping and additive manufacturing technologies in the industry.  We can now effectively match
each design requirement, material specification and stage of the product development cycle.  At this event, you will understand how to best leverage the entire RP toolbox, gain insight into the future of additive manufacturing and learn how new technologies are opening up additional opportunities for creative design solutions.

Come when you can to this open house and network with colleagues and true design professionals throughout the region.  Short presentations are scheduled for those who want to dig deeper into the tools.

This event is the first of its kind to best answer these practical questions faced by mechanical design professionals.

Drop in anytime between 2-6pm on March 30, 2012.

2 pm:  Networking, facility tours and prototyping demonstrations
3 pm:  “Prototyping Decision Matrix”  -  Bill Watson, Managing Partner, Anvil Prototype & Design
3:30:  Networking break
4pm:  “The Future of Additive Manufacturing” – Cathy Lewis, VP, Global Marketing at 3D Systems
4:30 – 6pm:  Happy hour – networking, facility tours and prototyping demonstrations

RSVPs are requested but not required.  You can register at:  http://anvilprototype.com/EventRegistration/tabid/68/Default.aspx

This handbook has been making it way around the internet.  If you haven't seen it yet you should download it and check it out.  After you read it, enjoyed it, and learned a thing or two, how about donating $5-$10 bucks to the cause?  Isn't it about time a designer put something like this together?

It aims to channel designers, and their creative talent, toward community needs and demonstrate how design and design thinking can make a difference.

For our next AIGA Charlotte event, the Design for Good Poster Initiative, we’re calling on the design community to create posters that will inform Charlotte citizens about environmental and social issues, and inspire them to create positive change in our growing city.
