Time to carve pine!
The NCSU IDSA chapter brings us the 2011 Pinewood Derby
from 1-4 pm Nov 19th at Leazar Hall.
Official car kits can be purchased from us (NCSU IDSA), or bought from your local hobby shop. Remember that they must be‘Pinewood Derby’ kits, NOT ‘Pine Car’ kits. Pine car kits are lamer and have have different dimensions.
Guidelines for construction should be in most kits, but you can check out the fine print down below:
- Must be within 7” long, 2-1/4” wide, and under 4” in height
- Must be at or under 5 ounces
- Must use wheels and axels provided in kit (no replacements or modifications)
- All four wheels must be used and must touch the ground
- No graphite or liquid lubricants
Awards will be given for fastest times and overall sweetness. Myself and my car will be waiting to see you at the finish line. Yup, that's a taunt in your face.
Anyone interested in attending needs to emaill ncsu.idsa@gmail.com
More information, including directions, are available on the NCSU IDSA blog)
